M0SFW is a radio amateur based on the South Coast of the United Kingdom near the city of Portsmouth. I have held my full amateur radio license since December of 2024 but have had a professional interest in radio communications for over two decades.
My main interest is HF voice communications although I do dabble in VHF, UHF and data modes from time to time. I enjoy building and testing different antenna configurations and trying new things out to see what works and what doesn’t. You can find my QRZ page here!
Although I mainly operate from my home, I like the challenge of portable operations when I have the time. I participate in Summits On The Air (SOTA) and Parks On The Air (POTA) when I can as this gives me the option to try out new things which I don’t have space for at home.
I’m not a contest station by any means but I like to keep an eye on the contest calendar and dip in and out of contests, this provides a great opportunity to build and test a solution aimed at a specific band or geography.
As well as HF I contribute to my local Meshtastic community and currently provide three infrastructure nodes aimed at expanding the mesh and facilitating long range communications near where I live.
My other hobbies include classic vehicles, electronics and computing.
